The History of Haunchyville Holiday Hijinks
Haunchyville is located off a remote street leading into a section of forest near Muskego, WI. Thousands of curious people have searched these woods for Haunchyville over the years, but the resourceful Haunchies are skilled at remaining out of sight and keeping their village hidden unless they want to be seen.
Haunchyville was founded in 1953
In the early 1950s, a group of circus dwarves escaped (and murdered?) their oppressive ring leader and began their search for a new life. They found a picturesque section of the southeast Wisconsin forest and founded what is thought to be the very first democratic society of dwarves on Christmas day of 1953. Gary Schwarber, one of the iconic founding members, was elected as the first leader of Haunchyville. The Haunchies celebrated their first Christmas as a liberated community with a raucous party and feast. Was their first Christmas meal the ring leader? No one can truly be sure.
Haunchyville Holiday Hijinks
The most interesting fact we've learned about the Haunchies over the years is their love of holidays and Christmas in particular. Haunchyville's Holiday Hijinks are well known throughout southern Wisconsin. They are known to use their skill for staying out of sight and clever tricks to play pranks on the surrounding communities throughout December. They love to find nativity scenes in the yards of Christmas-loving families and replace them with large menorahs as one of their favorite pranks, confusing both the families and their neighbors.
Who are the Haunchies? And what do they want?
Haunchies are commonly referred to as dwarves, but the truth is that Haunchies are Haunchies. While there has been contact with the Haunchies in the past, they have generally refused to enter into our society.
When threatened, Haunchies are said to be incredibly violent. Their chosen self-defense method appears to be hacking off limbs.
It's difficult to speak to what the Haunchies' motivations are, outside of living peacefully in their isolated community. They have developed a mostly self-sufficient society, and are said to be very peaceful towards people who don't seek them harm. To the best of our knowledge, the Haunchies simply want to be left alone to enjoy their holiday hijinks.
Keep a keen eye out this December for the Haunchies and their holiday hijinks. If you get a good look at one, you just might be able to see them hit one of their signature backflips while stealing your family's Christmas decorations.
